The reduction in the amount of energy we use will help us meet national and international targets towards lower carbon emissions. This section will explain where Foster has made notable progress both in delivering low energy products and manufacturing in highly energy efficient operations.

Cornerstones of our sustainability agenda are the control and reduction of waste and recycling as much as we can. We will explain how Foster has made significant steps in delivering sustainability initiatives throughout the business.

Supporting our community, being a force for good and respecting the rights and needs of others are important principles to Foster. We continue to pursue strong welfare programmes, ethical purchasing initiatives and local supply and support programmes which are outlined in this section.

With so much misinformation around regarding some companies’ ‘green credentials’, Foster’s CSR Report is based upon the data and actions which are verified bi-annually by independent auditors and to the internationally recognised standard ISO 14001 to which Foster has been accredited since 2005 and the Carbon Trust Standard.
In each of these areas we will explain Foster’s achievements so far and give details of some of the great work our people have achieved to date. We will also outline the work that is still in progress and our ambitions for the future.
Although we have made great progress and generated considerable momentum in our business, we also recognise that we still have much to do. To maintain our progress we have set up an “Working Today and Protecting Tomorrow” steering group which I chair, whose key role is to drive our environmental plans forward and deliver on our performance targets.
Whilst many of our plans and commitments will be challenging we are determined to follow a firm agenda of progress for our business as we continue to lead the way for a sustainable future.
